NE Ambassador Learning Journey to Old Ford Factory

On 2nd March, the class chairman of each class who are also the NE ambassadors of the school went for a NE learning journey to Old Ford Factory at Upper Bukit Timah Road.

The objectives of the trip are to relay the roles of the NE ambassadors to these student leaders and to get them to appreciate their national identity. Memories at Old Ford Factory...

After I went to the Old Ford Factory, I had learnt things that I couldn't learnt from the textbook. I had learnt that the Japanese had also tried to improve the living conditions in Singapore by resuming the service of the Malayan Railway which was not stated in the textbook.

I feel that the learning journey was interesting because we know more about the history of Singapore and how our ancestors suffered under the Japanese. This made me appreciate the peace, harmony and stability mantained in this country and understand how important it is to maintain good relations between different countries. It was not fun anyway.___.___.

I have learnt about WW2(world war two) , history of Singapore .
What have I learnt ?
We walked around the exhibition gallery and read the panels that were talking about the world war 2.
There were also posters , maps , pictures and artefacts .
I have also learnt that the route on our way back , was the route that the Japanese took to came over to Singapore .

I think that the trip has given us an idea of how life was during the Japanese Occupation, the hardship faced by Singaporeans , the fear they have when they saw the Japanese. The visit was fun, as I learnt lots of new stuffs such as the weapons or items used by both the British and Japanese troops. I cuold also learn that the Japanese invade Asia countries to have natrual resources they neeed such as rubber, tin and etc. In the Old Ford Factory, we coud learn more things happening during World War 2 in Singapore thanks to the video, exhibits on display and etc. Most importantly, we learnt important NE values such as we should protect our own country and Singapore is where we belongs and etc.

I have learnt about the history of Singapore through the learning journey trip to the Old Ford Factory about the World War 2 in Singapore. I have seen some artefacts, photographs and sculptures at the Museum.I have also learnt more about National Education and know my role as a NE ambassador. Through this learning journey, I understand the importance of promoting National Education in schools and want to play my part in promoting NE to my friends.

A visit to the Old Ford Factory was a very enriching experience. It shows us the hardships experienced by the people of Singapore, explanation of why Japanese invaded South-East Asia. Many doubts were cleared of why we were victims of the war. Overall this trip was an unforgettable experience as we were showed real life stories of the POWs.
